Don’t get me wrong. I love sex. And I consider it nothing less than sacred. Before I knew practices like meditation and breathwork, that was the only time my mind would stop. Ego boundaries would collapse and I could experience fleeting moments of oneness with another. Some of the deepest and most connected spiritual experiences I’ve ever had have been during making love. It’s no wonder that the word ecstasy literally means “standing outside of oneself.” And yet… I’m grateful I don’t have to make the choice, but if I had to, I would give up sex for the sake of my work, my mission. The feelings that come from knowing that I have been instrumental in helping someone heal, transform and get free are the most fulfilling experience I know. At a deep soul level, nothing in my life is as satisfying as knowing my purpose and giving expression to my potential. If you’re reading this, I would venture to guess that you have lived long enough to have discovered for yourself that no amount of sex, money, travel, success, property, or stuff to buy is going to make us happy. Of course, I’m not making any of that wrong and it can all add to making our lives a richer experience. As far as I am concerned, giving expression to our unique human potential is the only thing that will really fulfill us. That is the reason what I started offering the Soulful Purpose retreat years ago. Its goal is twofold: to help others get clear about their life purpose and—almost more importantly, because I believe that at some level we know what that is—to identify and dissolve the fear and self-imposed obstacles we have allowed to hold us back from stepping into that purpose. If you’re up for it, we have two Soulful Purpose retreats coming up soon: one in Marin County, CA in early December and the second in Miami over New Year’s. Come. We need you in your power, and we need you living your purpose more fully! |
